One Health and Resilient Health Systems in Public Health Emergencies

Take part in a free international academic experience at USP São Paulo, Brazil

The School of Nursing and the School of Public Health of the University of São Paulo (USP) and the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, are offering the course One Health and Resilient Health Systems in Public Health Emergencies from 15 to 22 July 2026, totalling 30 hours. 

The course aims to explore the One Health approach and its relationship with the elements that strengthen the resilience of health systems, based on intersectoral strategies for integrated risk management, with an emphasis on preparedness for responding to health emergencies in middle-income countries.

The preliminary programme includes the following topics:

  • Foundations of the One Health approach

  • Health system resilience: concepts and applications

  • Drivers of emerging health threats within the One Health framework

  • Intersectoral strategies for integrated risk management

  • Practical activities for professional integration and preparedness for responding to health emergencies (stakeholder engagement and community engagement)

  • Technical visits to primary healthcare units and peripheral territories in the western region of São Paulo, SP, Brazil

Application process for international students only

  1. Click here and fill out the ACCESS SYSTEM REQUEST FORM;
  2. Use the link received by email to log in to the nomination platform with the password provided in the message;
  3. Once you have access to the platform, follow the instructions starting from Step 4 below.

  2. Enter the email address registered in the Mundus System;
  3. Access the link received and log in to the nomination platform using the access code provided;
  4. Once logged in, click on “Add new student” and fill in the following information:
    1. Full name;
    2. Gender;
    3. Major at home university;
    4. Student email;
    5. Modality (choose “short-term stay”)
    6. Start semester (choose “2nd semester 2026”)
  5. Important: in the field “Linked to Exchange Network/Program?”, select “YES” to enable the list of programs;
  6. Under “Exchange Program”, select the respective USP Academy 2026 course for which you wish to nominate your student;
  7. After submitting the nomination, your student will receive an email with a link to complete their application.
  1. After being nominated by your home institution, access the Mundus System through the link received in your personal email (the same address provided by your university during nomination);
  2. Complete your application by filling in the required information;
  3. Upload the requested documents;
  4. Submit your application;
  5. Wait for a response from the course team regarding your selection.
